EXPLORING GEOMETRY THROUGH CHILDREN'S SONGS

Hello to all of you! Today I am here to tell you that nursery rhymes can be a great tool to teach geometry to children in a fun way.

Through the songs, the students learn in a multisensory way since through the songs, the children listen to the lyrics, observe the gestures and imitate the movements, being able to better remember the information of the geometric figures.

In addition, the pupils can listen to the song constantly and thanks to repetition and sounds, the content can easily be stored in their memory. In the case of geometric shapes, there are many songs that narrate the shapes, sides and characteristics. This tool can be of great help to students to easily learn geometric figures.

Through my personal experience, I could see how students are highly motivated through songs, as they find it a very fun way to learn the contents and it is very important to look for tools that feed the students' interest.

Also, through the association of images, it can be much easier to recognise the different geometric figures and to understand the different concepts in a visual way.

Finally, I can mention that many songs explain the concepts by exemplifying aspects of real life, which helps students to better understand the world around them and to see the real purpose of teaching different contents.

As future teachers, I encourage you to use all these tools for your students because it helps to encourage participation and above all to motivate them more.
